2nd Annual IPADay

The 2nd annual IPADay takes place this Thursday, August 2nd 2012. Ashley Routson and Ryan Ross founded IPADay in 2011 with the following intent:

IPA Day is opportunity for all breweries, bloggers, businesses and consumers to connect and share their love of craft beer. It is an opportunity for the entire craft beer culture to combine forces and advocate craft beer through increased education and global awareness.

You can find out more about IPADay and its history over at the IPADay.org which also includes the history of the IPA, a description of the various IPA styles, and even an interesting collection of recipes that incorporate IPAs.

So, how can you celebrate IPADay? IPADay.org has a good list of general suggestions and there is a list of some local events at the bottom of this post. The two aspects of IPADay that you need to keep in mind when planning your celebration are:

  1. Spreading the word is a key aspect of IPADay. This is accomplished by not only word of mouth but online by using the #IPADay hashtag. Whatever you do for IPADay, make sure to share your photos, videos, blogposts, and any other aspect of your celebrations online by using the #IPADay tag.

  2. Don't forget that you are an advocate of the craft beer community. Tell some of your non-craft beer drinking friends about the event and encourage them to join you in celebrating. As stated on IPADay.org:

Set the goal of converting at least one person, if not the whole world of drinkers, into an IPA lover!

Local IPADay Events

Props will be serving their Flying Cofffin IPA for $3.50 a pint as well as serving a jerk chicken that includes their IPA in the marinade. Facebook post about event.

No word of any specials going on at the brewery for IPADay but what better way to celebrate than heading down to our local craft brewery with friends and enjoying some Li'l Napoleon IPA followed up by taking some home with you in a growler!
