World of Beer Opens to Public

Pensacola's newest craft beer location opened to the general public July 4th and Pensacola Beer was there. Boasting 50 taps and 150 bottle beers, the World of Beer opening was well attended and lively.

The giant front window facing Palafox opens to the street giving the entire building an open, airy feeling. Your setting options are plentiful, including a large bar, tables and chairs in the main room, an outside patio, and sidewalk seating. We sat on the patio, and despite being the middle of summer ceiling fans kept the temperature comfortable.

A small stage is available for live music, with a sound system playing top 40 mixed with 80s music. The music volume is loud but at a level that still allows conversation, though difficult at times.

The servers, all female, were attentive and plentiful. If your server was busy, it wasn't difficult to get the attention of another.

Our group of four enjoyed the following:

No food is served, but menus are available from several local restaurants upon request. Once you decide on a place to eat, you simply call the restaurant and have the food delivered straight to your table. We ordered BBQ chicken and pork Nachos from The Happy Pig which was delivered promptly and delicious.

World of Beer offers a loyalty card for 15 bucks. Upon purchasing a card you receive a World of Beer t-shirt. You also receive a point for every beer you drink which leads to prizes and upon reaching 500 points a party in your honor with a 250 dollar bar tab. Upon request your server can print out a receipt showing each beer you've bought, your points, and your next available reward.

If hard liquor and mixed drinks are more your style, the Blend Lounge serves both and connects to World of Beer near the back of the building.

World of Beer is located at the corner of Palafox and Intendencia in the old Blazzues location. Parking is street side only, and hours are Mon-Fri 3 pm - 3 am & Sat-Sun 12 pm - 3 am.

World of Beer is a great addition to the Pensacola craft beer scene. If you haven't been yet, the official grand opening is this Saturday at 12 pm. The schedule includes free food, beer samples, giveaways, live music, and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
