International Stout Day 2012
/IPA isn't the only beer style that has its own "beer holiday". This Thursday, November 8th, is International Stout Day. You may ask yourself, "why do I need a holiday to drink and enjoy a stout?", and I'm in complete agreement.
But beer style "holidays" are about more than just drinking beer. They share your love of craft beer while helping promote both the craft beer scene as well as the specific style.
The official website describes the holiday as:
A worldwide celebration of the iconic beer style, Stout. Taking place in homes, pubs, breweries and restaurants; it’s all about celebrating the craft beer revolution, relishing in this beloved beer style, sharing your photos, tasting notes and events with the world.
The website includes information on stout beer, including style history, recipes that incorporate stout (a versatile beer style for use in cooking), as well as descriptions of the various stout styles.
The diversity of stout styles is one of the great aspects of stout, whether you prefer a dry or sweet stout or something in-between, there is a style for you. If you'd like to try a new stout to celebrate International Stout Day, check out BeerAdvocate's list for each style to help you find the perfect stout for your celebration.
