Pensacola Beer Attends Hopjacks Filling Station Grand Opening
/Hopjacks Filling Station held their official Grand Opening this past Friday and Pensacola Beer was there. Billed as a 'craft beer specialty retail store and tasting bar with artisanal food product offerings', the festivities started at 3 pm.
I arrived around 3:15 in a pouring rain. Despite the weather people were already inside checking out Hopjacks' newest venture and extensive beer selection.
I was greeted at the door by an employee ready to answer any questions while offering a free sample of Green Flash West Coast IPA. A great first impression.
Bottled beer can be purchased to bring home. If you'd rather drink it on site they'll provide a glass.
Or you can select a draft beer from one of 30 taps. They can also fill growlers from their tap selection, a great option for taking any of the draft selections home with you.
A nice selection of cheeses is available.
Plenty of seating if you'd like to stay a while.
Or you can sit at a small bar overlooking the kitchen.
The menu is smaller and slightly different that the classic Hopjacks menu, but keeps their famous belgian fries.
Out of my first choice, a Rogue Oatmeal Stout, I settled on a Murphy's Irish Stout along with belgian fries. I followed that with a Pensacola Bay Li'l Napoleon. I had hoped to pick up some Pensacola Bay bombers advertised on their facebook page but they were already sold out.
There were raffles and prizes given out during the grand opening (no, I didn't win).
Hopjacks Filling Station also carries a small collection of wine.
Though only there for an hour, I came away impressed. Hopjacks Filling Station is a unique and welcomed addition to the Pensacola craft beer scene. If you're looking to enjoy some great beer in a relaxed atmosphere, or just need to restock your fridge, you should check it out.
Pensacola Beer will return soon for a complete review.
